One of the main pages I want to include in my final project, is information about my credentials and access to some of my existing work. I want to have a PDF to my CV, but also a hyperlink to my LinkedIn profile. Several of the instructional design portfolios I researched included both a PDF and a LinkedIn link, and I think it's a good idea because it caters to various types of visitors I may receive on my site.
The other section I definitely want to include to differentiate myself from other instructional designers is a large portion of the site dedicated to student learning assessment. Instructional designers come from a variety of backgrounds, some are educators, others are IT professionals. I don't know if very many have the background that I do of having started out in student learning assessment and then transferred over. From what I've seen, if there's any kind of transition between the two fields it goes from ID to assessment practitioner (i.e, the other way around). I want to include a blog discussing current issues in assessment, evaluation, and accreditation. I also want to include links to modules on how to choose various techniques to assess different types of learning outcomes (e.g., cognitive, skills, affective). When visiting my page, the user should be able to easily find:
"Diversity is key! If all of the samples you've chosen are in the same niche and have the same approach, then you'll want to consider mixing things up a bit. Include case studies or samples that offer a different angle of your skills, talents, and experience, even if it's just a brief eLearning module."In that spirit, I want to make sure I include a variety of work samples that demonstrates the breadth of my talent in both instructional design and student learning assessment.
